Changing Frame

shows the current productions and themes:

Gmundner Keramik and OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH have initiated a new era with the AoCG in 2022. The focus is on mutual stimulation and exchange between one of the oldest locations for ceramic production in Europe and contemporary artists of international standing. Exhibitions and events, as well as working residencies for artists, promote the transfer of artistic and technical know-how and thus tie in with history.

The ceramics of the SAN

A significant project of the AoCG is the support of the San in the Kalahari. At the same time, attention is drawn to their difficult situation. Regular ceramics workshops offer the San, who live in several settlements in the border area in Donkerbos, Namibia and D’Kar, Botswana, a new livelihood. The artworks created in the Kalahari inspired the painters of Gmundner Keramik to create a special edition, which can be found in the shop.

In several workshops in the Kalahari, San artists created a series of works: plates, but also three-dimensional objects and paintings. Through the Gmundner Lodge in Namibia, the material ceramics was brought back to the San. This unique Art Aid project provides income for the San and is a source of inspiration for the Gmundner Keramik programme.
